Ashwini Vaishnav also announced a plan to prepare electronic components for Hyperloop at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai during this period. He showed a live demo on Instagram and wrote, “Asia’s longest Hyperloop Tube (410 m)… will soon be the world’s longest.”
In May 2022, the Ministry of Railways allocated Rs 8.34 crore to IIT Madras for indigenous development and validation of Hyperloop technology. Expressing confidence in the positive results of this project, he said that the entire testing system has been prepared in India itself. He congratulated the young innovators of IIT Madras for this achievement.
IIT Madras has been playing a leading role in Hyperloop Research for the last seven years. The 422 meter student-run Hyperloop Test track is also operational in the Discovery Campus here. Recently, the institute also organized Asia’s first global Hyperloop competition, which got the support of the Government of India and the Ministry of Railways.
Meanwhile, IIT is preparing to launch the world’s first commercial Hyperloop Technology-based project in India next month, Madras’s incubated deep-tech startup Tutup Tutup Tutup.
